Welcome to another Mentee Spotlight from Femme Palette, where we share inspiring growth journeys from women in our mentoring program.

In this interview, we meet Daniela, a global B2B marketing leader with more than 17 years of experience helping technical and industrial brands grow across international markets. Throughout her career, she has led global marketing teams spanning Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and APAC, overseen post-acquisition marketing integration across multiple European companies, and partnered with engineering teams to transform complex innovations into compelling brand stories.

When organizational changes began to challenge her leadership values, Daniela joined the Femme Palette Mentoring Program to strengthen her resilience, navigate difficult conversations with confidence, and grow as a leader. Together with her mentor, Michiko, she discovered the power of looking at situations from different perspectives and learned that authentic leadership starts with staying true to your values.

Tell us a bit about yourself. What do you do, and where were you in your career when you joined the Femme Palette Mentoring Program?

I’m a global marketing leader with over 17 years of experience helping technical and industrial brands communicate their value worldwide. When I joined Femme Palette, I was leading a global marketing team of nearly 20 people across Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and APAC. My role involved overseeing global marketing strategy while working closely with regional teams to ensure successful local execution.

What made you realize you needed a mentor at that moment?

At the time, senior management was pushing for a major team restructuring. The expectation was to let experienced employees go and replace them with junior talent, which would require significant time dedicated to onboarding and training. While I genuinely enjoy developing people, this approach conflicted with my leadership values.

I wanted to better understand the strategic thinking behind these decisions rather than simply accepting them. I also found myself navigating difficult conversations with leadership, where my perspective wasn't always welcomed. That made me realize I needed someone who could help me strengthen my resilience and think more strategically.

What goals or challenges did you hope to work on?

My main goals were to build resilience and improve my communication and argumentation skills. I wanted to become better at advocating for my team while understanding when to stand my ground and when to approach situations differently. Ultimately, I hoped to protect and develop my team while still delivering the business results the company expected.

Which goals did you achieve, and what are you most proud of?

I achieved much more than I originally expected. My mentor, Michiko, helped me slow down and examine situations from multiple perspectives instead of reacting emotionally. Through our conversations, I became much clearer about my own priorities and values. I learned that effective leadership isn't about winning every argument—it's about knowing which conversations truly matter.

How did mentoring impact your career or confidence?

Mentoring helped me fully recognize my professional value. I also realized that not every corporate culture is the right fit, and that's perfectly okay.

The confidence I gained had a direct impact on my career. When I was later approached by a headhunter for a marketing leadership position at a US company, I was able to present myself with confidence because I genuinely believed in my experience, my leadership style, and the value I could bring.

Could you share a specific breakthrough or meaningful moment from the program?

One session completely changed the way I think.

Michiko asked me to physically stand up and move to different parts of the room while answering the same questions from different perspectives. It sounds simple, but it completely shifted my mindset. Suddenly, I was able to see situations from angles I hadn't considered before.

Although every mentoring session was held remotely, it often felt as though she was sitting in the room with me.

Was there any unexpected benefit from the mentoring experience?

The biggest surprise was the sense of relief each session brought me.

Before every meeting, I often felt overwhelmed. My schedule was packed, and setting aside an entire hour just to talk sometimes felt impossible. But every single time, I finished our session feeling lighter, energized, and full of new ideas. Looking back, those 60 minutes consistently became some of the most valuable time I invested in myself.

If Daniela's story resonates with you, maybe it is time to write your own. Whether you are navigating a career transition, looking to step into your next level, or simply ready for that external perspective that changes everything, our mentoring program is here for you.
